Faculty members are expected to carry out research, design and teach courses, engage in institution development and conduct training program and undertake consultancy.
Professors and Associate Professors
1. Minimum Qualifications & Experience Requirements for Faculty Positions
For academic positions, the qualification, experience, etc. shall be governed by the Ministry of Education guidelines.
Ph.D. in the appropriate branch with first class or equivalent (in terms of grades, etc.) in the preceding degree, with a very good academic record throughout. Minimum 10 years of post-Ph.D. teaching/research/industrial experience of which at least 4 years post Ph.D. experience should be at the level of Associate Professor in IITs, IIMs, IISc Bangalore, NITIE Mumbai and IISERs or at an equivalent level in any such other Indian or foreign institution/institutions of comparable standards. He/ She should have high research, training and consulting credentials.
- Ph.D. with 10 years of post- Ph.D. experience in teaching/research/industrial experience out of which 4 years should be at the level of Associate Professor in IITs, IIMs, IISc Bangalore, NITIE Mumbai and IISERs or at an equivalent level in any such other Indian or foreign institution/ institutions of comparable standards.
- First-class (Min 60%) or equivalent grade in Master's and Graduation Degrees
- First-class (Min 60%) or equivalent grade in Class XII or Class X.
- 5% relaxation for SC/ST/DAP and 3% relaxation for OBC in X, XII, Bachelor’s and Master’s degree.
- Minimum Two Papers in A*/A** Category Journals or Four Research Paper in "A - Category Journals" or Eight in "B – Category Journals" in the relevant area of specialisation.
- Preference for FPM/Ph.D. guidance.
Ph.D. in the appropriate branch with first class or equivalent (in terms of grades, etc.) in the preceding degree, with a very good academic record throughout. Minimum of 6 years of experience of which at least 3 years post Ph.D. experience should be at the level of Assistant Professor, and ability to interact with a diverse student body and executives, and ability to undertake research independently. Candidates from Industry (Government / PSU/ Research Organization) having experience of 6 years at the level equivalent to Assistant Professor.
- Ph.D. with six years of post-Ph.D. experience out of which 3 years should be as Assistant Professor at Level-12 or equivalent / Candidates from Industry (Government / PSU / Research Organization) having of post-Ph.D. experience of 6 years at the level equivalent to Assistant Professor.
- First-class (Min 60%) or equivalent grade in Master's and Graduation Degrees
- First-class (Min 60%) or equivalent grade in Class XII or Class X
- 5% relaxation for SC/ST/DAP and 3% relaxation for OBC in X, XII, Bachelor’s and Master’s degree.

- 5% relaxation for SC/ST/DAP and 3% relaxation for OBC in X, XII, Bachelor’s and Master’s degree.
- Minimum one Research Paper in “B – Category Journals” or above in the relevant area of specialisation.
Fresh Ph.D. in the appropriate branch with first class or equivalent (in terms of grades, etc.) in the preceding degree, with a very good academic record throughout. Candidates from Industry (Government/ PSU/ Research Organization) having experience of less than 1 year at level equivalent to Assistant Professor. The candidate who has given the viva voce with the provisional award of Ph.D. may also apply.
- Fresh Ph.D. in the appropriate branch with less than one year of post-Ph.D. experience. The candidate who has given the viva voce with the provisional award of Ph.D. may also apply.
- First-class (Min 60%) or equivalent grade in Master’s and Graduation Degrees
- First-class (Min 60%) or equivalent grade in Class XII or Class X.
- 5% relaxation for SC/ST/DAP and 3% relaxation for OBC in X, XII, Bachelor’s and Master’s degree.
- Candidates with publication in ABDC (A**/A*/A/B) Journals will be preferred.
Elevation of Assistant Professor (Grade - II) Level - 10 to Assistant Professor (Grade-II) Level – 11 to Assistant Professor (Grade-I) Level -12 will be done as per the IIM Jammu Rules. If any faculty member, appointed at L-10 or L-11, is not able to meet the criteria related to quality of teaching and publications, enough opportunity will be given to him/ her to improve during the probation period. However, if he/ she fails to meet the teaching and publication criteria during the probation period, his/ her services will be terminated as per IIM Jammu Rules.
2. Categorisation of Quality of Journal Publications
IIM Jammu follows Journal Quality categorization as below:

Equivalence of Journal Category will be as follow:
- One Paper in A*/A** Rated Journal = Two Papers in A-Rated Journals=Four Papers in B -Category Journals.
- Two Case along with Teaching Note published in Harvard Case Publishing/ Richard Ivey/ Emerald will be considered equivalent to one paper in ‘B' - Category Journals.

The pay carries all other allowances such as DA (currently 58% of basic), Leased Accommodation/HRA (20% of basic), LTC, Medical Allowance, Term Insurance, Children Education Allowance, NPS, Reimbursement of Telephone Bills, Incentive for Research Publications, Faculty Development Fund for attending National and International Conferences, Membership of Professional Bodies etc. as per IIM Jammu Rules. Faculty members are permitted to pursue MDPs and Management Consulting as per IIM Jammu Rules.
Professor of Practice and Associate Professor of Practice
In order to be considered for the Professor of Practice, the individual must have substantial relevant experience of minimum 20 years with at least 5 years at a senior level position in industry or government with demonstrated understanding of and impact on practice and has the interest and potential to teach Leadership Development Program (LDP) courses as full- time activity.
The Minimum qualification will be as per regular positions of Professor.
- Ph.D. in the appropriate branch is desirable, but not essential. However, a lack of Ph.D. must be offset by demonstrated domain knowledge, obtained from the ‘field’.
- First-class (Min 60%) or equivalent grade in Master's and Graduation Degrees.
- First-class (Min 60%) or equivalent grade in Class XII or Class X.
Professor of Practice will be appointed initially for a period of one/two years and is renewable every year for a maximum period of up to 5 years based on his performance. The retirement age will be 65 years.
The overall compensation of “Professor of Practice” will be equivalent to that of regular Full Professor. Selected candidates will get Consolidated Compensation, Accommodation, Medical Allowance, Term Insurance, Reimbursement of Telephone Bills, Incentive for Research Publications, Faculty Development Fund for attending National Conferences, Membership of Professional Bodies etc. as per IIM Jammu Rules. Faculty members are permitted to pursue MDPs and Management Consulting after meeting the minimum teaching requirements as per IIM Jammu Rules.

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu invites applications for the Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship (PDRF) Program. Postdoctoral training is imparted for scholarly development and career advancement for individuals who have obtained a doctoral degree. It would be instituted in IIM Jammu as part of its research outreach activities. IIM Jammu aims to provide an opportunity to young research scholars to pursue active research in their respective field of specialization (or an interdisciplinary field) within broad contours of business management. It is a fulltime program with a duration of one year, extendable for another year subject to satisfactory progress. Institute will admit young researchers as institute Post-Doctoral Research Fellows. Under this scheme, PDRFs will carry out advanced research at IIM Jammu with a faculty member of IIM Jammu as a mentor. Due to limitations in the number of PDRFs, a faculty member can mentor a maximum of one PDRF at a time.

Program Objectives:
- The Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship is designed keeping in view IIM Jammu’s aim to create a high-quality research environment in the institute, with intentions to promote high-quality research by research scholars with a doctoral degree and an outstanding academic record.
- IIM Jammu also aims to address pertinent issues through adequate research work done by PDRF that would focus on solving societal and business issues faced by businesses-small or large, public or private in developing and developed countries. It will bridge the gap between theory and practise.
- The program facilitates the development of a professional identity of the research scholar, including the evolution of self-identity from student to professional and the ability to assume professional and personal responsibility for one’s independent research work.
- The Fellows would add significantly to the academic vibrancy of the IIM Jammu through their own research, as well as by working jointly with faculty members on research and by presenting seminars.
Eligibility:
- Candidates with a Ph.D. Degree from institutions of high repute like IIMs, IITs, IISERs, IISc Bangalore, NITIE Mumbai, Central/State Universities, or an equivalent level in such other globally recognized Indian or foreign institutions of comparable standards as may be decided by IIM Jammu can apply within five years of completion of their Ph.D. The thesis must be in appropriate disciplines.
- Those who have submitted their thesis for Ph.D. degree may also apply. However, such candidates are expected to complete the Ph.D. programme and submit provisional degree at the time of joining or original Ph.D. degree certificate within 6 months from the date of joining as PDRF.
- From the Ph.D. thesis, at least one research publication should be in ABDC category journals/ conference proceedings.
- Applicants must have a consistently good academic record and demonstrated research potential.
- A Ph.D. degree holder from IIM Jammu is eligible to apply only after gaining one year of post-PhD relevant experience and under the mentorship of other than his/her PhD supervisor(s).
- The age limit for applications for the PDRFs is a maximum of 35 years (this limit may be relaxed by 5 years for women, PWD and SC/ST applicants).
- Both Indian and Foreign nationals are eligible to apply for PDRF. If selected, before joining the Institute, a foreign national candidate will have to obtain required permission from concerned authority of the Government of India.
Stipend and Other Benefits:
- Each fellowship will carry a monthly Stipend of ₹ 70,000/ p.m. consolidated, depending on the level of prior experience of the chosen candidate. In addition, a contingency grant of Rs. 50,000/- per annum will be provided. The entire duration of the fellowship will be for a fixed period of one year, with continuation of fellowship in the second-year subject to satisfactory performance in the first year.
- The IIM Jammu would pay ₹ 1,00,000/- (upper limit) for attending one reputed international conference during their entire tenure with the post-doctoral program, on a reimbursement basis, upon production of receipts. This conference grant can be accessed only after completing the first year of the fellowship program and submission of one joint research paper with IIM Jammu faculty member for publication in a reputed journal (at least category B in ABDC journal rankings).
- Office space will be provided to PDRF along with a computer and printer. They will be issued special research library card, enabling them to borrow up to ten books from the library at a time.

Assignments During Tenure:
- Fellows will conduct academic research jointly with a faculty member in their area of interest. The goal will be to publish in the top, internationally recognized journals. It is expected that at the end of the first year, candidate will have published at least two papers in the working paper series of the Institute/ one manuscript under-review in a B-category journal as per the institute policy by the end of the first year and one ABDC B-category paper by the end of the second year.
- At the end of one year, the candidate may be issued a certificate of completion PDRF in management by IIM Jammu, if not extended in the second year after a review to determine the adequacy of the fellow’s research contribution while holding the PDRF at IIM Jammu.
- If the PDRF wishes to leave the program before the end of the tenure, he/she can do so with prior approval of the mentor/s giving one month’s notice. The fellowship may be terminated by the Institute if the performance/conduct of the fellow is unsatisfactory after giving one month’s notice to the PDRF.
- The post-doctoral fellows will conform to all the rules and regulations of the institute governing the services of its employees.
Performance Assessment During the Tenure:
- After joining the PDRF position, the PDRF will carry out research work under the guidance of the Mentor in the concerned Academic Area/Centre.
- The performance of the PDRF will be assessed by the Performance Assessment Committee (PAC) constituted by the Director.
- The PDRF is required to submit a progress report on research work carried out and research findings supported by reprints/preprints/manuscripts of the papers published/ accepted/ presented for publication or presentations for this purpose to the PAC trough the Mentor.
- The PAC will evaluate the performance of the PDRF. The PDRF is also required give a presentation every six months to the PAC.
- The second-year extension of the fellowship will be based on the recommendation of the PAC on a prescribed form.
- The duration of the fellowship will be initially for a period of 1 year, extendable for a further period of one more year based on the progress of the PDRF and the recommendation of PAC.
