Dr. Sumit Maheshwari is an Assistant Professor in the Operations and Supply Chain area at Indian Institute of Management Jammu. Prior to joining IIM Jammu, he served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, IIT Bombay and as an Assistant Professor at GL Bajaj Institute of Management and Research. He earned his Ph.D. and M.Phil. in Operational Research from University of Delhi. He also holds an M.Sc. in Operations Research (University Gold Medal) and a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Statistics from Aligarh Muslim University.

Dr. Maheshwari’s research interests lie in inventory management, supply chain management, optimization, sustainability, and decision sciences. His work has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as International Journal of Production Research, Annals of Operations Research, Journal of Cleaner Production, Cleaner Logistics and Supply Chain, International Journal of Systems Science: Operations & Logistics, Journal of Business Analytics, OPSEARCH, and RAIRO-Operations Research. He received the Professor M. N. Gopalan Award for Best Ph.D. Thesis (2024) from the Operational Research Society of India and the Best Research Paper Award (2022) from University of Lucknow.

Dr. Maheshwari teaches courses in Business Research Methods, Business Statistics, Operations Management, Operations Research, and Supply Chain Analytics. He also contributes to the academic community through editorial service. He is an Associate Editor of International Journal of System Assurance Engineering and Management and serves on the Editorial Board Member and Associate Editor of Humanities and Social Sciences Communications. In addition, he has reviewed manuscripts for several international journals in operations management, analytics, sustainability, and decision sciences.
